<P>When it's your 18th birthday, you'll probably get well wishes from mom, dad, and, if you're lucky, your teenage crush. But when you're <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/bieber_justin/artist.jhtml">Justin Bieber</a>, you get shouts from Usher, Lil Wayne and Sean Kingston. Be jealous! </P><P> </P><P>On Thursday (March 1), the Biebs turned 18 years old, and his most famous friends hooked up with MTV News to celebrate <a href="/news/articles/1680191/justin-bieber-birthday-fan-questions.jhtml">Bieber's birthday</a>. "I hope that you are around all of your loved ones and having a good time. This is from big bro, from the heart," Usher said in a video piece compiled by MTV News for the Biebs. </P><P> </P><P><div style="background-color:#000000;width:428px;"><div style="padding:4px;"><iframe src="http://media.mtvnservices.com/mgid:uma:video:mtv.com:744682/cp~id%3D1680192%26vid%3D744682%26instance%3Dmtv%26uri%3Dmgid%3Auma%3Avideo%3Amtv.com%3A744682" width="420" height="236" frameborder="0"></iframe></div></div> </P><P> </P><P>The <i>Confessions</i> singer initially signed Justin along with his manager Scooter Braun, and he has since become a mentor to the pop star. So of course the 33-year-old Usher had to impart some b-day wisdom on his young homey. "Eighteen will give you an opportunity to do a little bit, not all, so we got a few more years before you can go all the way," he said, acknowledging the three years until JB turns 21 and is allowed to legally drink in the U.S. "Maybe I might even be able to sneak you into a club. Anyway dawg, happy birthday. I love you." </P><P> </P><P>Comedian Kevin Hart isn't buying all of Justin's birthday hype, though. "Whatever Justin Bieber is supposed to be doing at 18, he was doing at 15," he joked after sending his well wish. </P><P> </P><P>Platinum hitmakers RedFoo, B.o.B, Sean Kingston and Flo Rida all helped MTV News celebrate the occasion. Even <a href="/news/articles/1678337/justin-bieber-lil-wayne-studio-visit.jhtml">Lil Wayne, who was with Bieber</a> in the studio in February, sent a special message. "Happy Birthday, slime, the big one-eight. You in the club, slime," Weezy said, standing beside Young Money's Lil Chuckee. </P><P> </P><P>As far as birthday presents go, it's anybody's guess what his buddies will actually get Bieber. But Robin Thicke bypassed tradition and instead hit up the "Never Say Never" singer for a loan. "Send me some money, Justin. You got way too much," he said, laughing. </P><P> </P><P>But what do you get the young man who has everything? Sometimes all it takes is a few kind words. "Thank you to all the people that made the video," Bieber told MTV News. Paul McDonald Hoping To Pen A 'Twilight' Song
Nikki Reed's 'American Idol'-alum husband wants to submit songs for 'Breaking Dawn - Part 2' soundtrack consideration.

Newlyweds Nikki Reed and Paul McDonald gave MTV News an exclusive look at their latest labor of love on Tuesday — the video for their first musical collaboration, "Now That I've Found You." And while "Twilight" star Reed didn't necessarily see the sweet ditty ending up on the "Breaking Dawn - Part 2" soundtrack, she did reveal that husband McDonald is in the early stages of submitting a song for potential inclusion in the saga's final installment.
"Paul has been speaking with them about potentially attempting to write something," Reed said. "Nothing is set in stone. He will be working on songs to submit. It would be a great, great thing. The music supervisor [Alexandra Patsavas] on that, as well as [director] Bill Condon, have great taste."
"It's very preliminary," McDonald confirmed. "It's kind of one of those things. I write all the time."
Over the past four years, the "Twilight Saga" soundtracks have gained a reputation for catapulting artists to new heights, with acts like Paramore, Christina Perri and Joy Formidable all benefiting from their confab with the Cullen clan. And as the former "American Idol" contestant looks to join that auspicious group, he's beginning by doing his homework.
"I watched some of the movies the other day," he said. "I hadn't gotten around to watching all of them, so I'm getting familiar with the story lines."
"He's trying to say he wasn't a Twi-hard before knowing me," Reed teased.
Included in his prep work will likely be an artist's screening of "Breaking Dawn - Part 2," which doesn't hit theaters until November 16. In the meantime, McDonald is working on his album, which he expects to drop early this fall.

HOLY HOOKER!!! *goes back to work*" </P><P> </P><P>Like many celebrities, Gaga has used Twitter to forge a closer relationship with her fans as well as make announcements about her career and respond to criticism, as she recently did when British music magazine <i>NME</i> named her hit album <i>Born This Way</i> the <a href="/news/articles/1679839/lady-gaga-most-pretentious-albums-born-this-way.jhtml">Most Pretentious Album Ever</a>. </P><P> </P><P>Gaga has been the most followed person on Twitter since August 2010, when she blasted past <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/spears_britney/artist.jhtml">Britney Spears</a> for the title when she reached 5.6 million followers. </P><P> </P><P>Spears now enjoys 13.6 million followers, making her the seventh most-followed person on the network. But Mother Monster cannot claim being the boss on Facebook. "I am a Led Zeppelin fan. I'm not going to say I've been to their concerts, but I've listened to their music since I was a child, and it's always moved me, especially 'Stairway to Heaven,' and 'Whole Lotta Love' is just fun." </P><P> </P><P>Blige also said she recorded another new song — a "club record" called "I Can't Wait" — for the re-release. Well, it is Sin City after all. </P><P> </P><P><a href="/music/artist/swift__taylor/artist.jhtml">Taylor Swift</a> always seems to bring some of that Nashville sparkle to any red carpet. She arrived at the show in a pale-hued, sequined Elie Saab gown. <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/minaj__nicki/artist.jhtml">Nicki Minaj</a> showed off her signature sense of style in her baby-blue, body-hugging spandex Mark Fast catsuit. </P><P> </P><P><a href="/music/artist/gomez__selena/artist.jhtml">Selena Gomez</a> turned up the style dial in a sexy, cut-out black Dolce & Gabbana gown that she paired with red strappy sandals with sparkly bow detailing. Nicole Kidman also wore black. She paired a casual braid hairstyle with a long black gown and Keith Urban. British pop cutie Kyle Minogue looked funky in her little black lacey dress. Inside the show, Britney Spears sat in the audience wearing a skimpy black dress of her own, her hair in loose curls, with little-to-no accessories. </P><P> </P><P>While some stars kept the color scheme low-key, Keri Hilson decided to stand out in her billowy little yellow dress paired with a turquoise-colored belt. Kelly Rowland showed off some of her best assets in a body-hugging, bright pink bandage dress. </P><P> </P><P>The fellas also looked tight on the carpet. Rules 'The Dark Knight Rises' Needs To Follow
We explore what lessons Christopher Nolan should learn in The Weekly Rising.

We stand a little over four months away from the conclusion of Christopher Nolan's Batman trilogy, "The Dark Knight Rises." The pressure on Nolan to deliver in an incredible experience compounds with "Rises" because, not only is he making a film about one of the most iconic heroes of all time, but he's following up one of the most successful movies ever.
"The Dark Knight" changed the game. It was a complex, gritty and heady superhero ensemble piece, the likes of which had never been seen before in the genre. Following an act like "The Dark Knight" requires an equally if not more confident move by Nolan and his team, one that's as ambitious yet still satisfying.
With the last film, Nolan cracked the code of the Batman movie, so here are some of the lessons he'll need to carry over to make "The Dark Knight Rises" just as memorable.
Keep it dark
Joker smashed a pencil into some guy's face. Then, he burned a guy alive on top of a pile of money. Rachel Dawes blew up mid-sentence. "The Dark Knight" went, well, dark and never made a big fuss about it. How bleak did any of the Marvel Universe films ever get? Sure, Bucky fake died. That was sad ... kinda. Nolan's world distinguishes itself by going there and making it feel natural. With only the close left, now is not the time to pull punches.
Don't have too many villains
It isn't necessarily my position that "The Dark Knight" featured too many villains. That was a general complaint made about adding Two-Face near the end; many said he didn't get his due respect. While I mostly disagree, there's something to that. If the villain in "Rises" turns out to be a surprise — as many predict it will be — the twist can take a lot of the impact out of the ending. We won't be as invested in that character's fate if he or she was revealed as an antagonist just 10 minutes before. If Nolan wants to surprise us with a villain, he should do it early and not put so much weight on the reveal.
Don't dumb it down
"Dark Knight" had a lot going on. Batman was hunting the Joker. Harvey and Rachel were pursuing Gotham's crime syndicate and citing conspiracy law. Gordon dealt with balancing his professional responsibilities with his wife's requests to not fake his own death. Even Lucius Fox struggled with the complex morality of helping Batman spy on everyone in the city of Gotham. It all seems like a lot, but the ensemble structure of the story added a complexity that has yet to be replicated in a superhero movie. Nolan never pandered to the audience or held its hand. He told a multi-layered story and let you figure out how the pieces fit.
Make it about something
Part of what made "The Dark Knight" complex was that its characters and their arcs presented ideas for the audience to mull over. It wasn't exactly "The Tree of Life," but Nolan managed to inject some philosophy into a movie about a guy who dresses up like a bat. The moralistic crux of the movie rested on Harvey Dent and his conversion to the dark side. All it took was a little push for the supposed incorruptible Dent to kidnap Gordon's wife and child. If Dent could go bad, what's Batman fighting for? "The Dark Knight" asked questions about its characters, which surprisingly enough, doesn't happen in many movies.
Make it about Batman
If "The Dark Knight Rises" is going to be the last we see of Nolan's Batman, we better get a lot of him. With "The Dark Knight," Nolan made the choice to also focus on all the people around Bruce Wayne, but for the conclusion, he'll have to narrow the iris and keep the camera locked on the Caped Crusader. For his final bow, something must be said about Batman, what he does and why he exists. Gary Oldman has said repeatedly that Nolan would never make a movie without having something to say. The director clearly has a deep respect for the hero and has made two movies trying to earn ours. "The Dark Knight Rises" will be his closing arguments.

"Paul has been speaking with them about potentially attempting to write something," Reed said. "Nothing is set in stone. He will be working on songs to submit. It would be a great, great thing. The music supervisor [Alexandra Patsavas] on that, as well as [director] Bill Condon, have great taste."
"It's very preliminary," McDonald confirmed. "It's kind of one of those things. I write all the time."
Over the past four years, the "Twilight Saga" soundtracks have gained a reputation for catapulting artists to new heights, with acts like Paramore, Christina Perri and Joy Formidable all benefiting from their confab with the Cullen clan. And as the former "American Idol" contestant looks to join that auspicious group, he's beginning by doing his homework.
"I watched some of the movies the other day," he said. "I hadn't gotten around to watching all of them, so I'm getting familiar with the story lines."
"He's trying to say he wasn't a Twi-hard before knowing me," Reed teased.
Included in his prep work will likely be an artist's screening of "Breaking Dawn - Part 2," which doesn't hit theaters until November 16. In the meantime, McDonald is working on his album, which he expects to drop early this fall.

Tommy Jordan on Laptop Shooting: No Regrets!
He may have shot up his daughter’s laptop to send a message, but Tommy Jordan doesn't regret it - and more importantly, he and Hannah Marie have made amends.
Nearly a month after posting his now-infamous video, he spoke on Today about his eight-minute "Facebook parenting" guide and their relationship since.
The video has 10 times more likes than dislikes on YouTube, and he has wide support in THG's poll (below). But Jordan admits he might not do it again.
“A lot of people took eight minutes of my life to judge me, and about 30 seconds of those where I read Hannah’s note to judge her,’’ he told Matt Lauer.
“I have a great daughter. She made a mistake. I made a mistake that day. I stand behind what I did, but the consequences were a lot larger than hers.’’
Asked if he has any regrets, he said, “Considering what’s come of it and the national and almost international conversation that it sparks, no I don’t.’’
But would he do it again? "It would be a tough decision to know what I know now," he paused, then admitted. "It’s brought a lot of stress on my family."
I’m sure I’d have to weigh, ‘Is the international story that seems to be talked about more important than my family’s peace of mind?' So that would be tough."

Zooey Deschanel's "New Girl" Workday

'Project X': The Reviews Are In!
Critics call the found-footage teen movie immature, unfunny and even dangerous.

"Project X" is the new found-footage movie that claims to show the most out-of-control party ever. Well, it seems like the party might be over based on the reviews the film has earned.
Critics have skewered "Project X," calling it immature, unfunny and even dangerous. For some, that might sound like a ringing endorsement of the party, but when it comes to throwing a movie together, "Project X" is much less successful.
Here is our roundup of "Project X" reviews.
The Story
"In suburban Pasadena, three exceedingly ordinary high school dudes stage a birthday bash for one of them, even though they're hardly the sort of guys that you'd expect to attract a hot crowd. <P>In a sea of A-list contributions for will.i.am's forthcoming solo album, the Black Eyed Peas mastermind recently dropped one name that will really get pop fans excited. Speaking with <a href="http://www.capitalfm.com/artists/william/news/britney-spears-alicia-keys-new-album/" target="_blank">Capital FM</a>, will teased that his <i>Femme Fatale</i> collaborator Britney Spears will make an appearance on the album, dubbed <i>#willpower.</i> </p><div class="player-placeholder right" id="vid:638813" width="240" height="211"></div><p> "I have a song with Alicia Keys — me, Alicia and Swedish House Mafia. I have a song with the Beats, which is pretty grand. Me and Shakira have been trying to finish the stuff we started, and me and Britney is really crazy," he said. "So we got a song with me, LMFAO and Eva Simons, a song with me and Busta Rhymes and Swizz Beatz — I got a whole other bunch of collaborations." Spears and will.i.am last worked together on "Big Fat Bass," a spacey, grinding party tune complete with clapping noises and some rapping from will himself. Their recording session was featured on the MTV special <a href="/news/articles/1660830/britney-spears-femme-fatale-previews.jhtml">"I Am the Femme Fatale."</a> There's been no word yet from will's camp about the song and whether this is a new track or if he will be including "Big Fat Bass" on the album. The rapper/producer's love for Brit is hardly anything new: He <a href="/news/articles/1662289/britney-spears-will-i-am-big-fat-bass.jhtml">gushed to MTV News about the pop princess</a> months after they recorded together. "[I discovered] her love for music. I never seen anyone, like, come alive, full of excitement and giggling and laughing behind the mic," will recalled to MTV News. "She was like a little kid when she was recording the song, and it just brought the whole atmosphere, it changed the whole atmosphere when someone really loves music. So it was great working with her." His latest single, "T.H.E (The Hardest Ever)," featuring Jennifer Lopez and Mick Jagger, dropped late last year. <i>#willpower,</i> which also features "X Factor" judge Nicole Scherzinger, will be released later this year. <i>What are you expecting from will and Brit's collabo? I'm the 'White' in 'Black [or] White,' and I sing 'Ben,' that famous song he wrote for the rat." The rodent in question is the pet of a young boy named Danny in the 1972 film "Ben." Jackson sang a version of the theme song that appeared in the movie's closing credits and was later included on his 1972 album also named <em>Ben</em>.
